Welcome to my Saramic pottery classes.
In each pottery class, you can create a different project from start to finish. Your group can sign up for one or the complete 6 class series. The clay classes are perfect for beginners to more experienced potters, ages 8 and up. Discover new skills, your personal style, and the joy of hand-building pottery. Given the right resources and motivation, we can shape clay, express our creativity, and create something unique and one of a kind.

With a Master’s in Art Education and a lifelong passion for pottery, I spent 28 years inspiring students as an art teacher in the Zanesville City School system. It’s been my dream to have my own pottery studio and to help others discover their creative potential while working with clay.
Hand-building Pottery Classes
Saramic Creations can accommodate groups of students from 3 to 8 people, ages 14 to adult or Individuals of 1 to 2 people. Each class focuses on different pottery techniques. The first class of the series will help you will learn the basic techniques. Each class after will slowly add more skills which helps develop your clay building abilities.
The complete 6 class series is $200. If you were to take individual classes they would be $50 for each class. (If you want to take individual classes, I would recommend taking the first class to learn the basics to clay building.) The glazing of your pottery is two to three weeks after the final sculpture class. Each class is approximately 3 hours long. Please call or text to arrange dates and times that would fit your needs. The larger the group, the bigger the discount.
The studio is also offering 2 hr. individual wheel lessons and children’s art classes ages 8-14. The children’s class can be any type of medium. Three students at a time for 2 hrs. Please enroll serious and thoughtful art students. Adults may or may not accompany their children.

After your class or lesson is approved, please use the website for registration and payment. If payment is not possible on the webpage, we can arrange payments at the time of service with a check, credit card, Venmo or cash.
Beginners, Level 1
Class 1 – Pinch Pot
The first class will be an intro to basic skills that include tool knowledge and room set-up. We will also learn basic steps for building, storing and firing your pottery piece. The finished product for the class will be a formed basic pinch pot. This first class is recommended before taking any of the others, unless you have experience.
Class 2 – Coils
The second class will teach you how to make creations by attaching different types of making. “See Examples”
Class 3 and 4 – Slab
Class 3 is making a soft slab. A soft slab is made while the clay is soft and pliable.
Class 4 is a hard slab. It is a form such as a box. It is formed when the clay is leather hard.
Class 5 – Sculpture
For this class, you will concentrate on a 3/D sculptured piece. There are many directions you can follow. There are unlimited possibilities.
Class 6 – Finishing Session-Glazing
For the glazing session, time is needed to dry and fire all the pieces. Glazing will take place two weeks after the sculpture class on the same weeknight.
